Expansion News: NJTFC Joins Women's Pro-Am Soccer League UWS

by Sibrena Geraldino

Bayonne, New Jersey - Today, New Jersey Teamsters Football Club (NJTFC) is excited to announce our expansion into professional & amateur women's soccer with United Women's Soccer (UWS), a division 2 league. NJTFC will play in the East Conference of UWS, forming both League One and League Two teams. NJTFC's women's professional and amateur teams will be a great addition to the NJTFC's portfolio of men's professional, semi-pro and amateur squads.

CEO Sibrena Stowe-Geraldino says, "Another goal has been realized for New Jersey Teamsters FC and today we are truly excited to announce joining United Women's Soccer. With a direct pathway to pro, our women's pro and reserve teams will compete in UWS and League Two. I am personally looking forward to working alongside the league, to push women's soccer forward in North America.

NJTFC men's teams competed successfully in semi-pro leagues and are anxious for a shot with National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). American female players are ranked no#1 in the world and NJTFC want to contribute to it. The club's vision and mission is in alignment with UWS; NJTFC is committed to promoting women's soccer and has established a pathway to Ireland with sister club, Dublin Country FC, where owners Alex & Sibrena Geraldino are minority partners.

The women's teams will play home matches at Don Ahern Veterans Stadium in the City of Bayonne. “We are excited to add a second New Jersey team to our East Conference. With the club having been already accepted on the men’s side by NISA, they are the second club with a team in both leagues. The Geraldino’s have broken barriers as being the first black ownership group of a pro franchise and now they will provide a pathway for female players in United Women’s Soccer,” stated League Commissioner Joe Ferrara.

United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is a national pro-am league composed of professionally operated clubs within the United States and Canada. UWS provides high level competition for college players, aspiring & former professionals, and international stars. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship. The league fills the gap between the college & professional ranks and has over 15 NWSL draftees & 100 professional contracts since it's inception in 2016.

UWS's Vision: To become the preeminent pro-am women’s soccer league in North America.

UWS's Mission: To advance women’s soccer by operating a standards-driven league in partnership with our member teams. Committed to Advancing Women’s Soccer!
